My work
Previous to the PhD I had a diverse career in several different design fields, from strategic and service design through to information design and user experience design. I have listed a few of the key projects from these periods here to give you a flavour of the sort of work I can and have done.

Government
-
Through qualitative research and a codesign methodology I helped an internal team at a city council to redesign their ways of working and their future service model.
-
I helped a local council to co-design an experience vision for a new civic building and public domain, working with citizens and staff. The project also involved shaping operating models alongside executive staff to align the experience vision with future ways of working.
-
I conducted customer research with transport providers to help a government department to understand how they would respond to new regulatory changes.
-
Through primary research with justice system actors I helped redesign how a core piece of technology could be used better.
Education
-
Through a human-centred design process I brought the student voice into a new organisational strategy for the University of Newcastle.
-
I lead a project tasked with understanding the particular contexts and cultural differences that would shape student experience of technology services in the Australian and Asian campuses of a large university.
-
I created a student experience strategy for a new vertical campus of a Victorian university.
Cultural sector
-
In 2021 my work for the Australian Centre for Moving Image won a Good Design Award. This project used an understanding of visitor experience to inform ACMI's architectural and digital transformation.
-
I worked with the Australian Museum on one project to inform their website redevelopment and another to define digitisation priorities of their collections.
-
I helped the Art Gallery of NSW to develop their audio experience strategy and then also helped them frame their digital ambitions through qualitative research with executive staff.
-
I went to Hong Kong to train staff at M+ in human-centered design methods, primarily to inform the development of a digital navigation tool.
